Well, almost 3 weeks ago, I began my time as a pastor(lead, that is)...for the first time. It's so funny how you tend to see things clearer when you're on the outside! It's kinda like all of us sports fans who see what Coach Carroll, Coach Weiss, Dusty Baker, etc. should have done, and there we find ourselves...screaming at the TV because he should've called this play or he should have taken out that pitcher or he should have brought in a pinch hitter.
It's definitely a humbling experience, and I constantly find myself seeking ways of doing ministry and being effective. The work is almost overwhelming in spite of the size of the congregation, but it's exciting and such an adventure. Gotta love it!

Bueno, hace 3 semanas, empecé a pastorear (como pastor principal)...por primera vez. Es tan interesante que cuando estás "afuera," ves las cosas tan claras. Es como nosotros, los aficionados de los deportes, cuando vemos al entrenador del América, el de las Chivas (wacala!), el de los Gigantes de San Francisco, etc. empezamos a gritarle a la pantalla de nuestra televisión porque él tenía que haber sacado a aquel jugador o metido a otro para sustituir al jugador que había estado cometiendo los errores. O sea, recuerdo haber pensado, "Ijos, el pastor hubiera hecho esto" o "no tenía que haber hecho aquello," y la verdad es que es tan diferente ya que empiezas a pastorear.
Es una experiencia donde me encuentro diciendo, "¿¿Estás seguro que quieres que haga esto, Señor??" Y cada rato estoy buscando maneras y métodos de ser más efectivo en el ministerio. A veces el trabajo parece inundarte a pesar del tamaño de la congre, pero a la misma vez es una aventura emocionante. ¡Qué mejor tiempo y lugar que ahora!
